Jorge Luis Villacorta Santamato is a Peruvian film director, actor, professor, and researcher. He studied film production under Dov Simens (also known as Dov S-S Simens). On April 17, 2011, he received a Producer Diploma from the Hollywood Film Institute upon graduating as a Feature Film Producer. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Communications from the National University of San Marcos, Peru's oldest university, established on May 12, 1551. Driven by his interest in art and film, Villacorta pursued a doctoral program in Art History at the same university. His dissertation focused on "A Study of Leonidas Zegarra's Cinematographic Style in 'María y los niños pobres' (2010)." Jorge used to provide personal film criticism to Peruvian filmmaker Leonidas Zegarra and is the designated curator of the Leonidas Zegarra House Museum (known as “Casa Museo Leonidas Zegarra” in Spanish, a work in progress created by Peruvian artist Fernando Gutiérrez, aka “Huanchaco”).
